Cars

I haven't posted in forever. My kid has a far more fabulous social life than me, and I've been busy with that type of stuff. We went out to the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona on Sunday. We saw a lot of rad cars and got to check out Rick's friends roadster that made it in the show. It even won a little award. Looking at all the cars in the show, or parked outside the buildings, I think Rick's car is up to snuff. Not for the "main" buildings, but maybe that little one in the back.

Here's a few pics of the new paint job. It's still at the shop, and I already know that this is not the FOREVER paint job for this car. It's just a gut feeling. Maybe it's because I've already heard Rick say quite a few times that he paid the guy close to nothing for it.

My doctor told me I've gained 14 pounds so far. At 20 weeks. That's actually good for me! How did I reward myself? Well...there was Mc Donald's 3 times this week with the kid, and one whole box of Oreos. Yep. Disgusting!

I started working on Thermal a few nights ago. It's a project I liked last year, but recently decided to try. As it slowly comes along, I'm not sure how I feel about it. The yarn is wool and silk and feels awesome.

Operation Freak Out: Is Done

Supposedly he's in. I sent Rick up there today to do some butt kissing. But the director remembered him and says we'll be getting a call in a few days and that he should be starting in September. Woo hoo!!!!!!!

Another Mommy Rant

Today at my son's Mommy & Me class, a friend told me that her son got into preschool. THE preschool. I put my son on the list last year, and refused to even sign up at any others. The others in town don't need early sign-ups, but this one is one you need to have signed your kid up for from birth (or maybe even mid-contraction!) I've become obsessed with this school and have had many arguments with Rick over the price. I felt totally crushed, but admittedly haven't been psycho calling the school for an opening, like this mother has been. Rick's family all went to this school and the directer LOVES Rick's family, so snobby me just assumed he would be ushered in with applause. (Did I mention how the directer was amazed by Seamus* and called him 'brilliant?')
Now I'm having a mini-hormonal-meltdown and Rick has agreed to get him in the school if I get Seamus potty-trained. I'm not sure what Rick has planned. Maybe a special dance?

I know that my kid will probably do great at whatever school he ends up attending, but I'm obsessive and want him in THIS school. And if all else fails...I'll resort to shallow ways and just take my kid over there. They won't be able to resist his cuteness. Could you?

I have extended my crafty-techniques to pasties. Yes, pasties. I'll have to get back to you on how they come out. I've agreed to make a pair for a swap, and have never actually made a pair before...this should be fun. I hope!

Stick A Fork In 'Er! Kind Of...

I suck at seaming and apparently suck at arm bands! Of all the parts of this vest that I could suck at, it's the tiniest last bit that is bugging me and that I'm going to have to fix! I had Rick try on the vest at various points of seaming and it seemed like it may be too large for him. Rick is tall and skinny, but requested a large instead of a medium. If I had been thinking clearly I probably would have used medium's measurements with large's length. Regardless, that part is fine. He likes it loose and it drapes great. Yet to be blocked too. But those armbands look ridiculous. This is when I usually give up and quit. I have so many projects that are 95% complete, seamed and just need a neckband.

I've finished the front (thank god!!!) and the rest of the back will be quick, then I just have to finish the stripes along the neck and arms. And then this bad bitch is done!!!!!!

Woo-hoo!!!!!!!

You may think I'm totally crazy, but I think this sweater is bad ass. Forget the guy wearing it, he makes this sweater so uncool. But a rockabilly guy that loves anchors could pull the look off effortlessly. Though persuading him to wear it may be more of a chore than it's worth!

This mangyle is really starting to irk me. I put it down for a few days, and it ended up being a HUGE mistake. It threw me off my game and now I keep having to unravel every bit I've knit sine picking it back up. I've been going through this for days!!!! The yarn is getting funky, the things is looking warped and so not perfect anymore. I'm getting disgusted and really feeling on the edge. How can I now be having problems when the pattern hasn't changed at all and I'm over halfway done? All those freaking ends and the tension...uh! Just give me a one-color pattern already!!!! I'm so over it! I bought the red yarn last night and am a little frightened to say I've spent the same amount in yarn this week that I have on groceries. Rick would kill me if he paid closer attention to our account.

Currently shaking my ass to Spinnerette's new EP.

Bitchy Witchy

I think the bitchy pregnancy hormones are starting to get the better of me. And in a fit of hormonal rage, well maybe just irritation, I put down the mangyle and put it in a Ziploc bag for moth protection. I think I'll pick it back up tonight because Rick is making me feel guilty. I've also proclaimed my love for this, in red- go figure. And am trying to figure out a way to buy the yarn without Rick noticing it on our bank statement. And did I mention the color is called Hot Rod Heather? Gorgeous color and the perfect name to make me want to buy it. Sometimes just the name alone can make me reach for my credit card. And it's so pretty...even if I probably won't be able to fit into it for another year.

*sigh*

Knitting Potato

I started working on the back, leaving the front on hold because it's getting pretty long and I need Rick here in the flesh to make sure that it fits properly before I bind off for the armholes. I'm a really fast knitter, but I think he is going to be shocked at how much I got done while caring for my small tasmanian devil. (And two brat dogs that have boycotted peeing outside because it's too cold for them. Jerks! My whole house smells like pee!) I have seen every episode of Law & Order, SVU, and CI too, and am beginning to feel like a crazy knitting "spinster" with dogs instead of cats. I think I need to put the needles down for a little while. Maybe sweep the floor before Rick gets home and wants to run off again.

Oh, and I decided to buy myself more yarn, for this. I didn't like any of the color choices on Knit Picks, so I'm geting the undyed white color that costs double the money. Geez, I have expensive taste don't I?

Some people may think I'm crazy to have sent Rick off for 3 days to go dirt bike riding and get the hell out of my hair. Being stuck in a house like an invalid with a 2 1/2 year old that is sick and needs to be forcefully given medicine once a day, would sound like a prison sentence to most, but to me it is like a vacation! Maybe I really am losing it, but Rick was driving me crazy! My mom called me last night and was shocked about how happy I sounded. Even I'm a little shocked about how pleasant it's been.

I've really been making progress on the sweater. I laid around on my butt all day and knit. I watched a lot of TV and didn't leave the house once. I had no trouble giving my son his antibiotics solo, and he's content watching The Munsters right now in the living room. Yes, The Munsters! Rick let him watch it before he left, and now he's requesting it over all his little kid shows. Whatever.
