It's Been Too Long

It's been quite awhile since I blogged last. Partly, because I didn't have much to report, and partly because my little boy was sick with a bad cough. (Damn that Mommy & Me class!) It was awful. Too many visits to the doctors office, and one visit to the E.R. because it was a weekend when he could barely breate. We had to give him breathing treatments out of a nubilizer machine, and that was a fight that the boy almost won everytime. You'd be surprised at how storng a 19 lb. 19 month-old can be. He had no problem posing, but as soon as I turned the machine on, it was a knockdown-drag out-fight. Everytime.


We also bought a cute little cow humidifier that blows cold mist out of it's ears. Too cute.

I've also been doing some Super Secret Knitting, and can't wait to post pictures once I'm done. Due to that, this is all I have to show you of my own personal knitting for me. I haven't worked on it since Saturday, so not much has been done and I can already feel that this is going to be my Everest for a person like me with knitting A-D-D. The colors look amazing in the hank, but not so much when knit. I'm not all that thrilled with the results.



In more boring wifey news, I've been trying my best to keep up with my tornado toddler, and trying (between knitting rows) to keep up on the clutter, keep up on the bills, and make dinner. Not microwave it. I've done pretty well so far, but realize I need to make a schedule for what rooms to clean day-to-day, what needs an everyday cleaning and some kind of organization to my chaotic household. B.O.R.I.N.G., but normal.

*I have now become completely indecisive on EVERY aspect of this wedding
(even though I totally love my dress. Not the one pictured above, it was just one of the candidates. And I love the chapel too.)

I'm sure I sound like some crazy bride-from-hell. And maybe I am. But I'm not a diva, and that is for sure. Last year I didn't care about getting married, Rick did. I decided at that point that if I was to get married, I would do something different, and put my own stamp on it. But as I look at my old wedding planning book I realized that this wedding has done a complete 180. It's become completly generic, and it kind of makes me cringe. But I've already tried to make things different, on the cheap, and it's just not happening. It can't. So what the hell. Fuck it. It'll be what it'll be and hopefully that's good enough.

Wedding Planning Sucks.

Tuesday

After keeping quiet in shame over my Flikr problem(couldn't synch my Flikr account to my Ravelry), I finally asked for help. An angel bythe name of AnnKari came to my rescue and TADA...my pictures have all been added to Ravelry! Yippe!!! Not that there are many pictures, I'm a fast knitter, but I get bored with projects, and knitting sometimes and just quit for a while. There all the same pictures I have on my blog, nothing different.

I went to Target today and found a whole new, seaonal, wedding section that was magnificent. I had originally planned to buy invitations online, but I found better ones at a mere fraction of the price there. My baby shower invitations came in the same style (in a box with everything you need to create the invite), you print them out on your computer, a ribbon through the top and envelopes, thank you's and all that. I used the same type for Seamus' christening too. Real simple to use, inexpensive and look like a million bucks. Totally scored. I would print them up now, except we're still deliberating over the reception venue. We just can't justify thousands of dollars on a dinner and six hours of a rental space, even if it does have a beautiful view. In the end I'm sure we'll succumb, but until then we'll be continueing to give ourselves ulcers. Someone asked me yesterday how the wedding planning was going. Before I could even think about what to say I immediately answered "Annoying". She looked surprised, but the woman next to her nodded her head. Wedding planning shouldn't be annoying, but apparently it is. I just need to grit my teeth and deal with it. I do have a little skip in my step today since I found cool invitations, disposable cameras, place cards, wedding bell place card holders, and a cool wedding album...all at the mere price of the original wedding invitations I decided not to go with. Nice.

SweetHeart Slowly

This is my first sweater in intarsia. I've worked intarsia on a baby blanket a few years ago, but it wasn't a wearable item that would stretch, so I'm a little paranoid about it. I'm taking it very slowly.

And The Winner Is...

This (and all) the pictures I took of this dress just doesn't do this dress justice. It's beautiful and it comes in ivory, which really makes it look like it came out of some archival museum from a very long time ago. If that makes any sense. It looks like something my grandmother could have worn, or like a vintage dress, which was very important to me. I bought the veil, only the part that covers the back of my hair, I didn't want my face covered.

I also bought this headpiece pin that matched the dress in ivory and was just an added detail that made the dress seem finished. The dress needed to be special oredered in extended length, because I'm 5'9" and plan to wear heels. I usually wear 4", but have been warned by everyone that I may want to go down an inch or two. We'll see.

My sister ordered her bridesmaid dress and I need to tell the others to ASAP. The dress I chose for my them is a halter than flares out like a swing dress and is very much something I would wear. It's on sale right now and may be discontiued soon. So they need to get one it too. Imagine black, no orange! I ordered my dress at the right time too. It was $200 dollars off and I was able to put off paying for it for a bit too, which is really a blessing. The few deposits that Rick and I have put down have really set us back financially, so any little bit on leeway is great. There have been many sleepless night for me while so indecisive over my dress. My decisions been made and there's no turning back now! I couldn't afford to anyways! Now on to other decisions, other indecisive decisions, more like it. One big one down, a thousnad little ones to go!

Oh, and I have been knitting on SweetHeart. I'll post a pic tomorrow. It's the first intarsia pattern I've worked on that I'm wearing. So I'm a little worried about the stretch, and am think of frogging it to make a little looser. I'm still throwing that idea around though.

Forget the dress, how 'bout the shoes?

Just some insanely expensive Christian Louboutin's. I'm a shoe gal. Girl. Whatever. I can pick out a pair of shoes like nothin', but a wedding dress, I just get too indecisive. These are the only shoes I've found that I've liked, and I'm so tempted to go for them. Eek!



I'm still torn between two dresses and seemed to be deadlocked. This is the point in wedding planning that makes me stop. I get confused and exasperated and just have to stop. I've been going throught this for almost two years. Yikes.

BAAAHHH!

Don't trip (j/k), I'm around. I'm alive. Just nothing really to report. I started Seamus in a new Mommy & Me class that is way more awesome than his younger class. The kid is gonna be flourishing. He did a paint project today, got to frolic with kids his age and older, and is learning to sit down in a chair instead of running like a madman. The other parents seem cool too, one is very uppity and snobby, and one brought her sick kid that was hacking all over the other kids, but 2 outta 20 ain't bad.
Still waiting for my precious yarn and KnitScene Fall 2006 to arrive. Until then, I'll most likely be MIA. I've got a wedding dress to purchase tomorrow, (still up in the air which one) and just trying to keep the house clean and get my baby on a schedule. None seem to stick, and the little guy finally crashed around 11:45 PM. Awful I know, and nothing we did would get him to fall asleep any earlier. And then the main water valve in front of our house broke and Rick had to turn off the main. We have no running water, wonderful. So as I write, Rick, his father and best friend are trying to weld and fix the problem with a torch and piece of potato bread. Bills are tight right now, and our luck with purchased help (plumbing, gardeners, sprinkler people has been shit) and Rick ends up having to fix it all afterwards.
As I've already stated, nothing AMAZING is going on, just boring everyday life that doesn't set us apart from anybody else, or any other family. We're normal, and bland, and sheep following the herd.

BAAAHHH!

POISON!

It's only the second day into the New Year and I already find myself succumbing to the urge to buy things. One was a necessity, a cell phone, because mine crumbled to pieces. I keep trying to convince myself that I don't need to purchase the Blackberry Pearl. And then I went on eBay and bought more yarn. Yikes. It's called Poison and it is for Clapotis. Yes, I am partial to yarn with cool names, and sometimes when I'm torn between a few different colors, a cool named yarn wins over a yarn just as pretty.
For now, I'm still waiting to finish a few projects, or start a few more. Whatever package arrives had priority. It may be the yarn to finish SweetHeart, it may be my Clapotis.

Happy New Year y'all! HaHa, my best Britney impression. I hope everyone had a fun festivities to partake in. We had fun. A "New York" celebration with family, then left the little one with the grandparents and went to a friends house. Fun, great view of the small trickle of fire works and a shot of Patron. I'm hoping this year is gonna be a good one.

New Years Resolutions:

1) Work more. Don't let the laziness overtake me.

2) Spend more QUALITY baby time. Now that he'e getting bigger more art projects, park visits, walks, etc.

3) Order my wedding dress!

4) Handle my temper better. It hibernates like a volcano, then erupts at only certain people, certain times.

5) Chill out about things that are inevitable, people that won't change, things I can't fix.

6) A little more ME time, (the kind that doesn't include considering ME time as watching the baby and blogging or surfing the internet)

7) Finish the projects I start (see how low on the list knitting is?)

8) Pay off some bills. They aren't big, but there's so many little ones that I inevitably have atleast one late payment a month out of forgetfulness.

9) Have more fun!

10) Don't stress out.
