A Crummy Goodbye To 2008

This year has been a wild one. Check my archives if you're curious. I'm keeping this short, because I'm in a bad mood. I don't want to make a bunch of empty promises for 2009. If any I will hope for good health for my family, an easy labor (not 4 days like last time!!!!), not to lose my house to the failing economy, and to lose the baby weight quicker than last time ( with no stretch marks please.) Yeah, right. I can dream can't I?

I hope everyone is going to have a blast this New Years'. I will be knitting in the New Year with my little sickypoo son in my bed. He's got a mild ear infection in one ear and a bad cough. We'll be watching Peter Pan and cuddling with his cow humidifier misting the room.

Happy New Year!

RRRRgyle.

I spent so much time on this yesterday. Frogged the argyle a few times too. Pain in the ass, but that's what keeps my knitting interest-I guess.

...she cooks from scratch and makes sweaters...

Don't you love when you go somewhere and find EXACTLY what you are looking for- plus it's 50% off? I totally scored when I walked into Jo-Ann's yesterday and found my yarn for cheap. I'm on a budget and getting used to Lion Brand since I can't afford luxe stuff anymore. It was like Black Friday in the yarn area and there were only the exact amount of skeins left for my project, so I was even luckier! I picked up some more embroidery needles because mine get dull fast, and then walked past the book area. Right in front, was Sublime Stitching's craft pad! Only one copy, exactly what I was looking for, and in JO-ANN's!!!! I was so happy and my son was so well behaved that I bought him some little zoo animal figurines in the check out line. He is thrilled now too.

*My loot!*

I showed Rick the yarn for his Mangyle, and he was pleasantly surprised. I think he was expecting it to be a chore to wear, but really digs the colors and has commented on them a few times. He also said that he told a girl at work that I'm knitting him a vest and that she said they must've made that Beastie Boys song up about me. ???? "...she cooks from scratch and makes sweaters..." I don't listen to BB's so I have no idea what she's referring to, but it is flattering!

*I'd have more done except that I frogged(ripped) it apart 3 different times over stupid little mistakes. I swear I have to cast on at least 3 different times until I feel the piece looks professional. Hmm...*

The New To-Knit List

I realize that I never actually knit any of this stuff, but I plan on it this time. Seriously.

Mangyle:

Rick looks good in brown and I think he can pull off the 50s-Buddy Holly-ish - guy in this. And he loves Triumph motorcycles, maybe I'll be able to get him to pose like this when it's done. HAHAHA....

Yeah, I know. ANOTHER Clapotis, but in cooler colors like this! And it's a plus that I can wear it no matter how ginormous I may get!

And aren't these adorable? There isn't an exact pattern for these, so they will be more complicated if I decide to make them.

These are just a few of my favorite designs right now. Trust me when I say there are a hell of a lot more, and next time I go to my LYS I will easily be dipping into "bill" money.

"When I Say I'm In Love You Best Believe I'm In Luv... L-U-V"

~Six Years Of Rick~

Six years ago *today* I met Rick. That is SO long! And a house, 2 bratty dogs, 1 & 1/2 kids and a wedding later- we're still together!

Yet Another Dish Cloth...

I've been so inspired lately by embroidery! All of Brooke's stuff and links to other cool stuff has really been working my crafty mo-jo. A few nights ago I felt like I HAD to do something crafty, right then! So I pulled out my embroidery stash and looked for something to do. I have tons of floss, but really need to stock up on needles and need more fabric. And advice? All I have is flour sacks that come out of the dryer wrinkled and even with ironing aren't perfect. I had one dishcloth that came in a little starter kit that Knit Vicious sent me, (Cuz she's awesome!!!!), and decided to make my mom a x-mas present. And if my mom is still looking at my blog even though I told her to stay off, that's her bad. She will have spoiled her own x-mas!

Give It To Me Straight...

I went to Tilly's today to buy Rick (yet) another beanie/ skullcap/ whatever the fuck you want to call it. I also found this sweater. Cheap, 20% extra off and leopard! It's fuzzy, which was a minor drawback, but it reminded me of a L.A.M.B. one I'll never be able to afford at this rate. And as I gain more weight, (5 more pounds since last month!!!), I realize what a fashion faux pas it is (in my own head) to wear animal print. Because I feel I tend to look like the actual animal.

So I ask you...do I look like a fuzzy giraffe? Maybe it's that I have big circles under my eyes and have had my hair up in a ponytail-thing for three days. Regardless, I think it may be too loud for me even.

Random Bitchings of a Bitch

-I haven't knit in a LONG time. I seamed together the sweater I knit in the summer, and really just need to knit the collar together. But for some reason this is the part that gets me bored. I have so many projects that are just shy of being finished. But with my possible next project. I think I shouldn't lose interest as fast, because they are one piece, which are the kinds of projects that I end up finishing. No seaming, no blocking, they're perfect! Rick has recently discovered that he loves wool socks. He is wearing those hiker wool socks from Big 5, but I think I may be able to knit him some myself, though this will be a first. He has also requested a beanie and scarf. Whoa, slow down buddy!

- I find out the sex of the baby on Jan. 9th, and once that has been established, I think I'll knit it a sweater. But seeing how I never finished one for my *now* 2 1/2 year-old baby, that seems unlikely!

- I have about ten pages left of the entire Twilight/ Stephenie Meyers series, and AM SO OVER IT!!!!! I finished the other books in a day a piece, but this one is slowly killing me with boredom. I don't think half the stuff she's writing about is essential to the story, and for some reason that just bothers me! And I'm never one to complain and try to over analyze a novel. I hate being asked about foreshadowing, climax and all that stuff...( Wow, I like, totally sound like someone who was planning on being a writer don't I?), but I really don't think it was needed. So out of the 4 books, I really can't stand this one! And I don't really have a complaint about the other 3.

-And am I the only one going through hell with my toddler right now? He has decided that all he's willing to eat is candy and cookies, and has been on a hunger strike for two days! I have made all of his favorite foods and all he is doing is throwing a tantrum and screaming! I want to pull my hair out. If I decide to, I'll post a picture of my new Sinead o' Connor 'do!

- Oh, and I think I'm on track to gain more weight with this kid than my last one! If that's possible. I ate like a crazy possessed person last time, ate all those foods that were fried and delicious. Had ice cream daily, and cookies...So I wasn't entirely surprised that I was a fat ass. But this time I don't really have cravings, I don't eat anything near what I ate last time and all my jeans and way tighter than they were last time at the same week-marks. Shoot me now!

When you stop blogging close to daily, you forget how- I guess. Life here is not that exciting from an outsiders perspective. Most of my dresses are boxed up and in the attic, looking at them while I am getting bigger depressed me a little. So bye-bye for now. We've been busy driving around all the neighborhoods with good Christmas lights, Seamus is really getting into the whole holiday. He loves to point out all the different characters, have me sing Jingle Bells and Frosty the Snowman, and "can-nee".

Today was the Christmas potluck for his mommy & me class. I was able to guilt Rick into coming since the would be other fathers there who work nights at the same job as his. Santa even made a surprise appearance. Seamus will do just about anything for a candy cane. While all the other kids in his class were pretty terrified of St. Nick, he said hello and went for a candy cane.

Like I said, my life seems a little drab. It's been cold and rainy for days, I just barely sent out my Christmas cards because I suck and am thinking about getting Chinese food delivered tonight too.

I've also been into reading instead of knitting or embroidering. Rick and I saw Twilight a few weeks ago because nothing else was playing during the time we went. I actually liked the movie, and it got me to pick up the book again. I finished it fast, and read the next two in a day a piece, but that last one if just dragging on. It's made me realize how annoying and selfish the main character is. And there's all these other characters and pages of details of things that seem so unimportant. Maybe it will change for me in the end, but I doubt it. I am the only person out there reading a freaking book I can't stand...for leisure! Must finish the last 100 pages and I'm done! Free of the franchise! Woo hoo!

.Bettie Page.

I planned on doing a different kind of post today, but since I saw the home page of my computer right now, I knew I had to pay tribute.

Bettie Page died earlier today or last night. I had read a while ago that she was sick and knew it was coming. And she was 85. So I''m just going to write a little about her, from my prospective. I never met her, am not going to pretend I did, but I was definitely an admirer. I really got into her when all I saw was blonde's (Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield, Doris Day...) I was inspired by her look and had been looking for a change. I cut my bangs, totally crooked, but loved them, I also pierced my lip around the same time, but didn't have that for long. My mom was never one who let me have my own identity...
I also loved the fact that she was so damn curvy, I was a sz. 3 but had curves. I was insecure about how I looked in a bikini next to my friends who just looked regular. After looking at all her pictures and reading her bio, I knew I needed to have her confidence. She didn't start of fetish, but didn't mind becoming the fetish icon.
I have been told I look like her in the past, but I don't see it. I think they were just trying to flatter me, and I never bought into it. Yes, I admired her. But I was never one of those that thought I was her incarnate. And I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about! But whatever, that's them not me!

Rest in peace Bettie! Not many get as long a life and a legacy that will go on for as long as yours!

Happy Holidays!

The holidays mean many things to me. The latest gripe about the holidays is that I just spent 50 bucks on cards! And that doesn't include stamps!!!!!!!

Have you ever been to someones house and been SO inspired?

Last night I went to a friends house for an ornament exchange party. It was a lot of fun to be out without the kiddo and Rick. And I absolutely LOVED the woman's house! It was totally different than mine. Almost all white, but so right on. I would live there in a heart beat.

I feel like it's time for a change. Now I'm going to go clean...And bake some cookies for today's cookie party!

Rick and I went out last night and saw Twilight. I expected him to bitch about it, since he called it a tween movie, but he didn't do too bad once we got to the theatre. There were only five or so people in the theatre and they were old ladies. I thought the movie was pretty good, I've only read half of the book, so I'll have to read the rest now to compare the stories. And that guy Edward was pretty hot. I didn't see what all the fuss was about, I kept hearing he was a heartthrob now, blah, blah, whatever. But damn, he was hot! Too bad I'm married....

Look What I Got!!!

I know that Christmas is technically right around the corner, but I couldn't wait! I suddenly felt the urge to go out and buy a Wii. And since we tend to off on a tangent, Rick and I got Guitar Hero and Mario Go-Kart as well. Yes, we're nuts.

Happy Tofurkey Day!

Since I'm sponging off three different families houses this year, I've decided to make pies! Mmmmm....and they smell so good! Only problem is that my pecan pie doesn't look like a pecan pie.

Anyways, this is supposed to be about what I'm grateful for. So lets get to it!

-I'm grateful for my little boy and for Rick. I come from a long line of dysfunction and even though I haven't fully broke the cycle, I think I've made strides towards it. I have an amazing house that I can't believe we own. (Well, pay the mortgage on.) I grew up on welfare and in various apartments scattered over LA and I feel like it's a big accomplishment to not have a landlord. Unless you count Rick, since his income is what pays the mortgage...

-I'm grateful for my mom. Sometimes she drives me crazy, but she's still my mom and I love her.

-I'm grateful for my little bastard dogs. Even though as I *literally* type this Rick is showing my favorite sweater and asking me to sniff it because he thinks one of them peed on it. F@%kers!

-I'm grateful to still have the same best friend I've had since I was three. We've seen each other since so much shit! We are family!

-I'm grateful for my Nana. I spent so much time with her growing up and she has so much to do with the person I am today. Even though she's been gone for a month, I'm grateful that I had her in my life for so long.

-I'm grateful for the new addition to our family.

-And it wouldn't be my blog if there wasn't a little gratitude towards the opulence. I'm grateful for the hundreds of shoes and dresses, Rick's cars that we're fortunate enough to afford to have, and for all the other good things that have come my way.

*Not even 1/3rd of my clothes!*

I hope everyone is having an awesome day too!

Coo Coo For Cocoa Puffs

I had an ultrasound on Friday, they gave a very mild prediction of the baby's gender, but since the baby wouldn't move it's legs the Dr. didn't feel even 80% certain. He told me not to tell people because he felt so unsure, so for now I'll keep it quiet. Though I have told a few people, which made Rick mad, probably because he refuses to believe it.

So I've taken it upon myself to figure it out myself. I've googled Chinese Gender Predicting Calendar's (all of which were wrong!!!) I was comparing my info from my first pregnancy, but all of those calendars are predicting my son is a girl. So I don't believe it! So I did another search and found a test even dumber that asked me if my belly looked more like a basketball or watermelon. If my nose has stretched out, and if I still like orange juice. And how I hold a coffee mug... How desperate did I suddenly get that I would take a test that ridiculous? When it comes down to it, as long as it's a healthy baby, I don't REALLY care. I guess I'm just nosy and just want to know regardless. Reality is I just have to wait until the first week of January.

Lastly I found one more test that actually turned up accurate, according to my sons stats, and then input this pregnancy's info and got the results that Rick wanted. So who the hell knows anyway! It's all b.s. and I feel coo coo!

**If any of you are bored and willing to give the test a try, it's really easy and I'm curious to know how many of you got the correct results for your own pregnancies.**

Misfits.

Last night me and the gang went out to Hollywood and saw The Misfits play. Well, let me rephrase that... We saw one of the original members of the Misfits and his back up band of guys. Sorry if any of you know any of them personally, but it's the truth. If you paid $35+ dollars for tickets, $10 in parking, more on gas to get to the show, and you were a hormonal pregnant nightmare...maybe you'd be a little bitchy too. And I realize that it was my own fault that I didn't go online and check to see who was still in the band. I just remember Danzig playing with them five or so years ago. And since it was being advertised as their 30th Anniversary, I assumed there would be more original members. So my bad.
They were okay. They played the songs I liked, and people seemed to enjoy themselves. But after their encore, Doyle, the one original member still with the group, acted like god and had about 20 people fawning over him like he was a god. He had this weird back up music that can only be described as the type of chorus that may be played as the clouds parted and god himself came down from the heavens. Doyle had his fist up in the air and when the music needed to be be louder, or replayed he would motion to the sound guy. This went on for so long at the end of the show, like 15 or 20 minutes!!!! Me and my friend couldn't stop laughing. It was ridiculous. Apparently we weren't the only ones that felt that way either. I went into the bathroom to retouch my lipstick, and overheard two groupies talking about it. They were dressed up as Army pin ups and totally cute. "Oh my god...what a joke! I totally wanted to suck his d-k tonight, but after that he can suck his own!!!!" And they just started laughing hysterically.

I thought that line was so funny, I just had to share it.

Beware Of The Candy Monster!

I'm attempting Jon & Kate Plus 8's way of potty-training. They would give out one M & M once the deed was done. But my son is too smart for that. He's faking it, and then telling me he's the candy monster.

I Forgot To Mention...

Rick's ShoeBox made it in Rodz magazine. The January '09 issue that's already hit stands. He's always the last one to realize it.

Dear Santa...

I've been pretty good this year and I'm working on my X-Mas list early...

And while you're at it, I'd really like this purse too.

Thanks!

Is It Fall Yet???

The weather is too hot to be considered Fall. Or maybe it's just me.

~Another Mama For Obama~

I'm not going to get all political. But I did vote for Obama. And me and Rick did go and get our free Starbucks coffee for voting.

This morning my mom shared a ridiculous story about "Barry" with me before I went to vote. Apparently my lame wad of a step-dad went to Occidental College with "Barry" and they both were after the same girl. Barry took her out one night, and step-dad had a breakfast date at the cafeteria with her the next morning. When she didn't show up, he went and knocked on her door and she yelled at him. He blames Barry. I can't really blame her for not wanting to go out with this:

So the moral of this story is that Barack Obama cock blocked my lame wad of a step-dad. I thought that was pretty funny and just had to share it with all of you. And he doesn't seem to hold too much of a grudge, because I'm pretty sure he's voting for him today too.

Baby Question Mark

It's been a busy week. I went last Monday to the doctor's office. June 6th is the tentative due date. We are referring to the baby as "Baby Question Mark", which is how we referred to our son before we figured out his sex or name. Ultrasound pictures always look so strange, especially when the baby only measures an inch. I think it very much resembles the Scream painting.

Making Myself Cringe While I Blog...

I don't know where I found this blog, (probably snooping around on YOUR blog!), but it's amazing and worthy of checking out. A lot of stuff I will never make, (like cheeseburger soup! yuck!) but there are some stuff I want to try. And I like my crockpot. Lazy easy cooking that's yummy and looks like a million bucks...

I really have no life! How House-Wifey Of Me...

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Peter Pan!

*He's inherited my vanity!

*My mom made his costume. She made me and my sister similar Peter Pan costumes when we were really little and the belt was saved from my sister's costume.

*Trick-or-Treating at Mommy & Me

*Don't they both looked thrilled? That's chichimommy's little girl.

And thank you for nice comments about my Nana. I really appreciate it. I'm having a hard time accepting it, and I have a feeling I never really will.
