300th Post????

Geez...I'm really getting up there aren't I???

Why have I been contemplating going private on the blog?

Well..there's a few reasons.

While Rick, who is far from being a huge computer user, ran across my blog earlier today, (searching for tattoos) he wasn't too please that I had called him a retard in a previous post. My bad. I know I was wrong. Wasn't expecting him to read my blog. Blah. Blah. Blah. So I erased the statement and apologized. Kind of.

He also mentioned that someone at work mentioned my blog to him. I don't know if he's bullshitting me or not, but that did concern me a little. So...I'm not sure if I'll go private, but don't worry. If I do, it'll all be exactly the same. Just keeping a few out. Like Rick's union brothers. But why would they be looking at a knitting blog anyway? Hmmm....see I don't entirely believe him.

Now that I got that out of the way, I've decided to get back in my groove of my ridiculous opulence and show off something that scares me a little. Rick brought two boxes out of the attic for me to put in my already-busting-at-the-seams-new-closet. I looked at them a little, puzzled at their appearance. The outside looked vaguely familiar. But not really. Rick kept swearing they were mine. Hmmm....so I opened them- (Thank God!!!!) after he went to work and realized that there were a bunch of dresses folded away in them. A bunch of vintage-style dresses I had forgotten I owned. All smaller than my current size, but I could probably squeeze into them. In the boobs- probably not. How could I have that many dresses I completely forgot about? My sister always tries to irritate me by comparing me to Paris Hilton. I shudder just reminding myself of that, but nonetheless only a Paris Hilton dumb ass would forget that they had this many dresses missing in action for the last few years, and not even notice.

*Yeah, I know- they're all wrinkled and need to be steamed!

Hi, my name is RubyRedRuca. I have an addiction. To vintage dresses. And high-end shoes.

I've been contemplating going private on my blog. I'll add any of you that want to join. Any of you that comment. Or don't. I'm sure I'll lose some viewers. (Duh!)

But it's something I need to do.

Brokedy-Broke-Broke

The Closet is done- minus the floor. Half is the pretty wood that had always been in my closet, and the other half was rotted out in the laundry room. So one day we will cover it with a leopard rug or carpet, but since we're brokedy-broke-broke right now. It'll have to wait, and I don't even mind. Because I'm in love with my new closet! But, man there aren't many places left for new shoes are there? Oh well...I'll figure it out! And believe it or not, this is only half of the dresses I own! I put the other half in a storage box when I thought I would never lose the extra baby weight. But I'm about ten pounds heavier still and may be able to squeeze my fat ass into them.

And did any of you see True Blood last night? I totally got sucked into it and LOVE it!!!! It's made by the same people that made Six Feet Under, which may be my all-time favorite series. Or at least one of them. I went out today and bought the first book of the series and picked up Twilight while it was at it. I want to see what all the fuss is about!

Completely unrelated, but super cute! Have you met my little fireman yet?

I Am So Sick Of Painting!

The gold looked like cat vomit. I don't know how it got to that point, but it just wasn't working. It looked hideous, uneven and like gold poo. Yuck! So I immediately primered the walls again, it took three coats!!!! And just girled out on the fucking thing. Pink walls and black trim. The whole point was to have it be a kitsch and a girls dream. Even though I'm only girly on the weekends. I usually love red more than pink, but in this instance I could only imagine pink working. Rick cringed at the idea, and made this face when he saw the pink on the walls. I really wanted to punch him since I've spent so many hours and so many days working on this thing. But as soon as I started with the black trim, he was sold. And excitedly told me it looked bad ass. So tomorrow I should be done painting. I AM SO SICK OF PAINTING! And my room is a disaster since everything is piled everywhere while the closet is under construction. It's all finally getting to me. And Rick wants to kill me for wasting $60 in gold paint. I hate that I may have to get more primer too. Another $25 dollars worth. And I dropped my fancy hair spray for the second time. $35 x 2= $70. Yeah, I'm just wasting money today. It sucks.

And in between paint drying sessions I've been sitting on the couch with my kid watching Caillou and working on this! I love embroidery!

.

But look at my closet! I hate that he texture coated it. It looks like bad acne scars to me, but he was lazy and texture is easier to hide the drywall and old plaster.

I'm primering it right now. The gold looked like shit, and will be re-painted gold. But I had painted a big gold swatch before the texture coat so it would need to be repainted regardless.

And I feel like embroidering. This will be my first object since I was ten or twelve. And that didn't go so well. So I may easily get sick of it and ebay my whole embroidery stash!

Anyone want to buy a shoe?

Rick called me last night while I was at work to let me know that Alabama destroyed a pair of my beloved red and black wing tip heels that I displayed last month on this very blog. The kicker is that she destroyed my son's checkered vans the night before. But I went early yesterday and bought him another pair. Mine aren't that easy. Besides the fact that they were $200???? Well, they were hand made in Brazil and were on back order in my sz. (9) for years. It had been a fluke they were in stock earlier this year. So it's iffy if I will ever be able to replace them. :(

I'm in shoe denial and a memorial service is pending. (I'm joking!!!) I told everyone to wear their best shoes while we bury this one in the back yard. Sniff. Sniff. RIP beautiful shoe. And both were found on the couch together, but only one was chewed while the other one was spared.

There is no rhyme or reason with this dog. I know it's puppy separation anxiety. I dealt with this with my other dogs when they were little, and still give them a treat when we leave, but this one has done wrong by me by somehow getting past a baby gate and chewing up my shoes. My little Houdini.

These heels made their debut this weekend when my best friends' boyfriend played a gig at Alex's Bar in Long Beach. They were awesome, and so were my shoes. Other than this, I had a fun weekend. How was yours?
